Plot: It's 1874 in rural Victoria, Australia. There are two concurrent arrivals to the region. The first is a bandit named Stingaree, who has made his way from his regular stomping grounds of New South Wales. The second is renowned London composer Sir Julian Kent who has accepted the invitation of a friend of a friend, Doris Clarkson, the wife of Hugh Clarkson, one of the richest men in the region, he having made his fortune in sheep farming. The two having never met, Mrs. Clarkson thinks herself a great singer and sees Sir Julian as her path to singing fame. When "Sir Julian" unexpectedly arrives at the Clarkson home, he hears the sweetest voice he has ever heard, however it is not Mrs. Clarkson he hears singing, but rather the Clarksons' housekeeper, Hilda Bouverie, who Mrs. Clarkson would not allow to audition for Sir Julian. Since her father passed four years ago, Hilda has relied on the Clarksons for her survival having no one else in the world. On the flip side, who Hilda sang for was not really Sir Julian, but rather Stingaree, who, upon meeting Sir Julian, kidnapped him in order to take his place to rob the Clarksons. Stingaree falls in love not only with Hilda's singing, but Hilda the woman, and she with him. As such, Stingaree risks his own freedom to help Hilda reach her goal of singing fame. Read More
